Grand slam in 11th puts Tigers in 0-2 ALCS hole, 7-3

Nelson Cruz hit a game-ending grand slam homerun that lifted the Texas Rangers over the Detroit Tigers, 7-3, in 11 innings for a 2-0 lead in the American League Championship Series.

Cruz also hit a tying homerun in the 7th inning. His second homerun of the game was a high drive to leftfield off Ryan Perry with nobody out in the 11th inning. The game could've ended in the 9th inning, but both the Tigers and the Rangers blew bases-loaded chances.

Doug Fister will be the Tigers' starting pitcher for Game 3 Tuesday night in Detroit at Comerica Park against the Rangers' Colby Lewis, who is 4-0 in five career postseason starts.

Albert Pujols had one of the biggest postseason nights of his career in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, going 4 for 5 with a homerun, three doubles and five RBIs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals past the Milwaukee Brewers, 12-3.

Pujols belted a two-run homerun in the first, a two-run double in the third and an RBI double in the fifth, then added another double in the 7th inning.

The series now shifts to St. Louis, where Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter faces the Brewers' right-hander Yovani Gallardo in Game 3 on Wednesday night.
