High hopes and expectations are in form here in Lakeland where the Detroit Tigers are ready for this 2012 season. Pitchers and catchers have arrived and position players are working out and conditoning is a plus. Miguel Cabrera has trimed down and quick on the infield and his hitting is picking up as he left off last year as the American League Batting Champion.

First Baseman Prince Fielder at camp hitting like he was with the Brewers last season and chemistry between Cabrera and Fielder is outstanding. What can you say about Justin Verlander looking to mid-season form, last years American League MVP and Cy Young.

Bullpen help is now in check with newcomer Righthander Octavio Dotel, with Lefty Phil Coke and the closer Jose Valverde. The fifth starter will be up for bid as to starters like Jacob Turner and Andy Oliver.
