Andy Dirks went for 2 for 5 with 3 RBI plus starter Justin Verlander went six innings leading the Tigers past the Mariners 6-4.

Detroit started off early in the first with a double from Austin Jackson then Dirks RBI single. Then in the second doubles from again Dirks and Delmon Young both drove two RBI in each.

Verlander had tough times with his control throwing 113 pitches and 68 were strikes, but did make big pitches to get out of the third inning.

Prince Fielder hit his fifth homer of the season in the seventh inning. Tigers manager Jim Leyland ejected in the bottom of the third inning aruging balls and strikes towards home plate umpire Brian Knight from the dugout.
