Tigers lose 7-4 in Boston, hitting three homers but starter Doug Fister (0-3) gave up six runs and 11 hits in five innings of work.

It is real rough to see a team like Detroit playing hard but also having the umpires affect the games outcome. Bottom of the second inning Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles had swung for a potential third strike that first base umpire Bill Welke called a foul tip when catcher Gerald Laird caught the ball in his glove.

The next pitch Aviles had an RBI single, followed by a RBI double and an RBI single that put three runs on the board. Both Manager Jim Leyland and thirdbase coach Gene Lemont ejected arguing the foul tip.

Gerald Laird had two hits including a solo homer, Delmon Young and Jhonny Peralta homered also.
