The Detroit Tigers battled back from a four-run deficit, only to take the lead in the 7th inninng, watch it melt away, and eventually lose to the Cincinnati Reds, 6-5, in 10 innings.

Reds third baseman Miguel Cairo scored the game-tying run in the 8th inning and the game-winning run in the 10th. He reached both times with hits. With one out, pinch hitter Wilson Valdez bunted the first pitch on a squeeze play and Prince Fielder's underhand toss to the plate wasn't in time.

For the Tigers, Brennan Boesch (three hits) and Miguel Cabrera (one hit) each had two RBIs. Gerald Laird also had a pair of hits.
