Max Scherzer threw seven shutout innings for Detroit in a 5-1 victory over the Twins. Miguel Cabrera became the first player in Tigers history to reach 30 home runs in five straight seasons.

Scherzer (12-6) struck out 10 batters improving to 6-1 with a 3.36 ERA in his last nine starts. Delmon Young hit his 13th homer of the season who ironically was traded to Detroit one year ago today.

Tigers two games behind of the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League Central.
