The Oakland Athletics became the 2012 American League West Division Champions with another improbable rally in a season full of them, coming back from four runs down and a 13-game division deficit to stun the two-time defending league champion Texas Rangers, 12-5. The A's needed a series sweep and they delivered to win their first division crown in six years and 15th in all. They overcame a five-game deficit in the final nine days and took sole possession of the West's top spot for the first time this year. Up next for Oakland is a trip to Comerica Park to open the AL Divisional Series this Saturday evening against Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera and the AL Central champion Detroit Tigers.

Robinson Cano and former Detroit Tiger Curtis Granderson each hit a pair of homeruns that powered the New York Yankees past the Boston Red Sox, 14-2, in the Bronx for their 13th American League East Division title in 17 years. After losing to Tampa Bay, 4-1, the Baltimore Orioles settled for the wild card spot, much like Texas did, and the Yankees will face the winner between the Orioles & Rangers in the AL Divisional Series.
