Giants shutout Tigers 2-0 on Saturday night, take commanding 3-0 World Series lead.

The San Francisco Giants became the first team in almost 50 years to hurl consecutive World Series shutouts, blanking the Detroit Tigers 2-0 on Saturday night at Comerica Park putting them just one win away from their second championship in two years. The Giants scored their runs in the second inning with RBI from Gregor Blanco, and Brandon Crawford putting them up
2-0. That turned out to be all the runs that they would need, as the listless Tigers continued their scoring slump. Anibal Sanchez pitched well for Detroit, giving up just the two runs on six hits while striking out eight in the losing effort. Ryan Vogelsong went 5 2/3 for the Giants giving up just five hits. Tim Lincecum and Sergio Romo closed it out in relief without surrendering a hit. Miguel Cabrera did have a chance to open it up in the fifth with the bases loaded, but popped out to end the inning. Detroit suffered their sixth straight World Series loss dating back to 2006 against St.Louis. Only the Boston Red Sox have come back from a 3-0 deficit in the postseason when they did it against the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS. The Tigers hope to avoid the sweep on Sunday night when they send Max Scherzer (1-0, 0.82) to face Giant ace Matt Cain (2-2, 3.52) for a 8:00 PM start.
