Justin Verlander is just fine pitching seven innings and the Tigers beat the Pirates 6-5. Verlander (6-4) gave up three runs and seven hits walking two and striking out 13 batters, marking his 26th career game with 10-or-more strikeouts and his second this season.

The game was tied at one until the fifth, Victor Martinez doubles to the left field corner scoring two runs. Jhonny Peralta had a double also one of his four hits on the day and three RBI's.

The seventh inning Peralta had a RBI single and the Tigers capitalized on the Pirates relievers walking in a run. Jose Valverde had his sixth save.
