The Detroit Tigers scored their first two runs to start out their 9-game road trip in shutting out the Boston Red Sox, 3-0, thanks to Doug Fister and a trio of relievers.  With Cleveland losing to Baltimore, 7-2, the Tigers' magic number in the AL Central division has been reduced to 17.

Jose Iglesias fueled his plus-.300 average by doubling in the 3rd inning on the first pitch of his first at-bat and executing double plays in the first two innings.

Detroit continues their series with Boston this Tuesday night at 7 pm from Fenway Park.

NL EAST - Atlanta down to 11 after win over N.Y. Mets & Washington losing to Philadelphia
NL WEST - L.A. Dodgers down to 14 after win over Colorado & Arizona losing to Toronto
AL EAST - Boston down to 20 after loss to Detroit & Tampa Bay losing to the L.A. Angels
NL CENTRAL - Pittsburgh down to 25 after win over Milwaukee & St. Louis losing to Cincinnati
AL WEST - Oakland & Texas tied for 1st place after A's defeated Rangers, 4-2
