The 600th episode of SmackDown kicked off with a 12-man tag team match, involving World Heavyweight Champion Edge teaming up with Randy Orton, John Morrison, R-Truth, Rey Mysterio, & John Cena against CM Punk, King Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Wade Barrett, Kane, & Dolph Ziggler. This match took a long time to conclude, but in the end, after Mysterio delivered a double 619 to Ziggler & Barrett, Edge capitalized with the spear to Ziggler for the 1-2-3. Afterwards, Vicki Guerrero appeared, ordered Edge to hand over the world title, and fired him on the spot!

In divas tag team action, Divas Champion Eve & Beth Phoenix took on Maryse & Layla with Michelle McCool at ringside "nursing" a foot injury. The match went well until McCool distracted Eve long enough for Maryse & Layla to both kick her in the face. As Beth Phoenix dragged McCool off the apron, Layla picked up the win and, with Michael Cole, helped McCool up to her feet.

In another champion vs. champion match this week, WWE Champion The Miz took on the Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston. A great competitive match until Alberto Del Rio came down and distracted Kofi with his scarf, long enough for The Miz to execute his skull crushing finale for the win.

For the WWE Tag Team Championship, Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov defended their titles against Corre members Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater. As the match came to a close, Santino gave Justin the cobra, but immediately, Wade Barrett & Ezekiel Jackson jumped in the ring, causing a disquailfication. As the Corre continued their attack, the Big Show ran down and cleared the ring. Ezekiel & the Big Show wanted a piece of each other, but the rest of the Corre saved it for another time.

A championship coronation was being held for Dolph Ziggler as the new World Heaveight Champion. Just then, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long returned, confronting Vicki & Dolph about their coronation & his attack a few weeks ago. Moments later, Vicki confessed that the attack was all set up by Dolph Ziggler. Now realizing the truth, Teddy Long re-hired Edge and a World Heavyweight Championship would take place immediately. Without any stipulations, Edge took advantage as he speared Dolph and reclaimed his title. Afterwards, Teddy Long came out once again & fired Dolph Ziggler, with Edeg & the WWE Universe wishing him farewell as the celebration continued.
