Titans pull off big win over Valpo; MSU women slips past Illini

Anton Wilson hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:51 remaining and Juwan Howard Jr. made three free throws with one second left to play as the Detroit Titans defeated the 1st-place Valparaiso Crusaders 63-60, snapping Valpo's seven-game winning streak.

Brandan Kearney scored 14 points for Detroit while Jaleel Hogan added 10 points & nine rebounds.

With the Titans (14-17, 7-9 HL) locked in as the 5th seed in the conference, they will host a 1st-round Horizon League Tournament game this Tuesday night at 7 pm inside Calihan Hall. UDM's opponent will be determined when the Horizon's regular season ends this Saturday.

Sophomore guard Tori Jankoska tied a career-high with six 3-pointers to lead the Michigan State Spartans past the Illinois Fighting Illini, 67-65, at the State Farm Center. The win helped the Spartans sweep the season series with Illinois and was MSU's sixth-straight win at Champaign.

Jankoska recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 24 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. MSU shot a season-high 54% (26-48) from the field, including 48% (11-23) from three-point range, which was the Spartans' second-best percentage this season from long range.

Michigan State (14-14, 6-11 Big Ten) will wrap up the regular season this Satruday afternoon when they travel to Purdue to play the Boilermakers at 2 pm.
