Seahawks conquer Vikings & cold; Packers eliminate Redskins

Post  Admin on Sun Jan 10, 2016 10:31 pm

Blair Walsh's 27-yard field goal attempt into the frigid wind hooked left with 22 seconds remaining as the Seattle Seahawks held on for a 10-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL Wild Card game. The game was played in below-zero weather that tied for the third-coldest NFL game in history. After the Vikings drained the clock late in the 4th quarter, Walsh missed the winner after making all three of his attempts earlier in the game. The 6th-seed Seahawks will travel to Carolina to take on the top-seeded Panthers next Sunday afternoon for the NFC Divisional game at 1 pm.

Aaron Rodgers threw for a pair of touchdowns while Eddie Lacy & James Starks each rushed in for a score as the Green Bay Packers overcame a slow start to defeat the NFC East champion Washington Redskins, 35-18 in the NFC Wild Card game. With Green Bay & Seattle joining Pittsburgh & Kansas City of the AFC, it's the first time road teams went 4-0 in the Wild Card round under the current NFL playoff format, which started in 1990. The Packers will now head to Arizona to face the Cardinals in the NFC Divisional round this Saturday night at 8:15 pm.
