Patriots defeat Chiefs; Cardinals take out Packers in OT

With Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman coming back from injuries, the New England Patriots went on to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-20, to earn their fifth AFC championship appearance.

New England quarterback Tom Brady threw for two touchdowns to Rob Gronkowski and sneaked in for another.  After spending the last two weeks recovering from knee and back injuries, Gronkowski caught seven passes for 83 yards, including two touchdowns.  Gronkowski also recovered an onside kick after Kansas City cut the deficit to 27-20 with just over one minute left in the game.

The Patriots will now play in the AFC title game next Sunday against either Denver on the road or against Pittsburgh at home.

Larry Fitzgerald darted through tacklers for 75 yards and scored two plays later to give the Arizona Cardinals a 26-20 overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers.

In a play eerily similar to the one against Detroit a few weeks ago, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw another Hail Mary for 41 yards for the touchdown to Jeff Janis to force overtime. From there, things didn't go the Packers way as the coin flip botched after it didn't flip the first time, Arizona won the toss after the 2nd flip, and the game was over after just three plays.

The Cardinals are set for the NFC championship next Sunday against either Seattle at home or against Carolina on the road.
