Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered & drove in four runs and closer Francisco Rodriguez struck out Giancarlo Stanton to end the game with the bases loaded as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Miami Marlins, 7-3. The Tigers survived the first game of the season in 11 innings against Miami, 8-7, on Tuesday.

Victor Martinez hit a two-run homerun and Nick Castellanos had an RBI double in the 6th inning. Starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (1-0) allowed two runs and four hits in five innings for Detroit.

The Tigers will return to the Motor City to host the New York Yankees at Comerica Park for a chilly home opener this Friday afternoon at 1 pm.
