The loss dropped the Tigers back down to a half-game behind Baltimore for the second AL wild card spot.

Alcides Escobar hit a sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning, but Detroit went ahead 3-1 on 3rd-inning RBI singles by Cameron Maybin & J.D. Martinez, and Maybin's RBI single in the 4th inning.

The Tigers look to bounce back against Kansas City in the series finale at Comerica Park this Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
