Thomas Vanek, who played for over nine years in Buffalo, drifted down the ice and waved his stick over the puck before firing a shot past Robin Lehner's glove to give the Detroit Red Wings a 2-1 shootout win over the Sabres.

Vanek added an assist in regulation while Gustav Nyquist scored in regulation & in the shootout as Detroit snapped a four-game losing streak.

The Red Wings will stay on the road for Black Friday when they visit New Jersey to take on the Devils at 7:30 pm.
