Pavel Datsyuk scored and added two assists in the first period alone including that sleight of hand that set up a goal by Darren Helm and the Red Wings held on for a 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes to take a 2-0 series lead.

Brian Rafalski and Tomas Holmstrom also scored for Detroit, and Nicklas Lidstrom had two assists. Shane Doan scored twice for Phoenix, which nearly rallied from a four-goal deficit.

The Red Wings were again without Henrik Zetterberg, who has been out with a left knee injury after leading the team in scoring during the regular season.

Detroit held on to win its 55th straight playoff game when scoring at least four goals. The Red Wings will look to continue that streak this Monday night in Phoenix for Game 3.

IN OTHER GAME 2 ACTION...

- The 6 seeded Montral Canadiens take a stunning 2-0 lead over the 3rd seed Bruins with a 3-1 win in Boston.

- Philadelphia's Daniel Briere scored the winning goal in the 2nd period to give the Flyers a 5-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres to tie the series at one.

- Drew Doughty scored two goals to help the Los Angeles Kings shutout the San Jose Sharks, 4-0 and take the series back to L.A. for Games 3 & 4, tied at one.
